Nemognatha lutea LeConte 1853

Nemognatha lutea is a meloid beetle distributed in western North America, from British Columbia and Alberta south to California, Texas, and Mexico. The adults are visible between March and October, when they are feeding on nectar and pollen of Asteraceae, Fabaceae, and Solanaceae. The larvae are parasites of solitary bees. Identification of Nemognatha beetles from photographs is problematic, and our identification of this beetle as N. lutea is tentative.
